The Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District commenced with the development of an independent water system that would serve Barangay Iraga in the municipality of Solana. Confirming the results of the latest geo-resistivity survey conducted in Barangays Iraga, Malalam, Calillauan, Maguirig, Gadu and Dassun – all in Solana Cagayan on October 2023 the on-going drilling project at Barangay Iraga showed a good aquifer with a potential ground water source.

 

This was further confirmed during the conduct of a 72 hour test pumping from December 08 to 13, 2023. The well was tested at extraction of 69 liters per second to determine the maximum yield and rate of recharge. Pending the contractor’s final report on the well drilling project, the Production Division confirms that the well was constructed at 96 meters depth with a static water level at 8.08 meters and maximum pumping water level of 25.90 meters. It also validates a good ground water potential that will safely supply the demand of the barangays Iraga and its nearby barangay.

The Iraga Water System will be a direct pumping system that would cater to households and other establishments in the community. The construction of the pumping station and discharge setup as well as the pipe laying for the distribution network is expected to commence in 2024. Soon, safe and potable water is made available at the doorsteps of each household in Iraga.
