The Philippine Association of Water Districts conducted and facilitated a Specialized Training on Technical Writing and Social Media Management on May 20-22, 2025 at Camelot Hotel, Quezon City.

The training focused on strengthening participants’ competencies in professional writing and digital engagement, essential for managing public communication and perception. Target participants included Secretaries, Executive Assistants, Public Information Officers, and Public Relations Officers.
Veteran journalist Mr. Randy Caluag, who has over three decades of experience in media, led the first day of training. He discussed effective communication strategies and introduced techniques for writing modular news articles. Emphasizing clarity, Caluag reminded participants, “When in doubt, simplify.”
 
On the second day, social media strategist Ms. Nylene Lozada gave emphasis on Social Media management particularly on social media strategies to boost engagement and awareness of the District’s media platforms. Also, she tackled how to manage public perception during crises and how to handle feedbacks.
 
The final day featured a review of participants’ outputs, with Caluag offering feedback to improve clarity and impact in newsletters and public communication materials.
The said activity was overwhelmingly attended by different Local Water Districts in the country comprising 7 Water Districts from Luzon, 3 Water Districts from Visayas and 15 Water Districts from Mindanao totaling to 61 participants from different Local Water Districts in the country. MTWD General Manager Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan, CESE, sent eight participants including, Engr. Rene Monteclaro, Engr. Wilfred Calapini, Engr. Bryan Faith Tumanguil, Mr. Howard Calagui, Mr. Sammuel Aquino, Mr. Anton Dela Cruz, Ms. Lovelyn Castro and Ms. Sharon Saquing.
Through this seminar training, it is envisioned that the participants will demonstrate improved communication strategies, enhance technical writing capabilities and an increased preparedness for managing day-to-day and crisis-related public communications.
