The Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) remains steadfast in its dedication to delivering quality water service through the infrastructure projects and continuous maintenance practices designed to ensure reliable, safe and potable water for Tuguegarao City, Solana and Piat. Recognizing that improving water quality entails significant investment, MTWD relies on water sales to cover the costs of maintenance, materials, and other capital and operating expenses essential in ensuring compliance to the standards of Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water.

Its recent infrastructure developments highlight its commitment to providing quality facilities that meet the evolving water needs of its customers-concessionaires. In August this year, MTWD completed the filtration system at the Namabbalan Pumping Station. This advanced filtration system reduces dissolve minerals, ensuring an improved water quality for consumers. Meanwhile, construction is well underway on a two-storey filtration building in Ugac Sur which will house the filtration system that will help minimize or eliminate iron and manganese contents in groundwater. Additionally, MTWD is preparing to replace the old filtration system in Bangag as part of its ongoing commitment to efficient water treatment infrastructure.

The District has also laid out plans to install water treatment equipment in all of its water facilities, underscoring its commitment to delivering improved quality water services. Awaiting the implementation of these installation programs, MTWD continues to uphold a comprehensive maintenance program to ensure consistent access to clean water across Tuguegarao City, Solana, and Piat. Through a carefully planned schedule, MTWD performs routine cleaning of storage facilities, with intervals ranging from every two months to quarterly and semi-annual schedules. This frequent, methodical cleaning prevents the buildup of contaminants, ensuring that stored water remains safe and ready for distribution to its customers-concessionaires.

To maintain water quality, MTWD conducts preventive flushing every month, which helps clear out sediments, minimize corrosion, and preserve the cleanliness of water in the pipelines. Additionally, the District offers emergency flushing services on requests, allowing customers to seek immediate assistance if they experience sudden changes in water quality due to pipeline interruptions brought by City, DPWH and other agencies/utilities such as road widening, drainage construction, ICT infrastructure projects and etc. This responsive approach ensures that MTWD can swiftly address and resolve any unexpected issues, maintaining the high standards of water service for the consumers.
