The MTWD conducted a two-day training entitled “Mastering Emerging Technology: Tools, Platforms, and Application” last July 17–18, 2025, at the 3rd floor of the MTWD office in San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City. The training was organized by the Human Resource Division led by Ma. Teresita P. Cruz in collaboration with the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) headed by Mr. Howard P. Calagui, Corporate Planning and Public Affairs Division (CPPAD) headed by Mr. Maynard V. Matammu. The activity is part of MTWD’s learning from peers initiative, where employees share their skills and knowledge to upscale the capacities of colleagues and co-employees.

The training opened with a welcome message from Mr. Matammu who cautioned the participants to always be in control of the tools and applications, structure the inputs critically and avoid the concept of Garbage In, Garbage Out. An encouraging message from General Manager Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan followed. He reminded everyone how important it is to keep up with new technology to better improve the services of the District, hence the management is always supportive of capacity development activities such as this.
On the first day, in-house resource persons gave lectures and hands-on workshop. Marcolino L. Callo, Mr. Callo started with a session on basic computer troubleshooting, teaching participants how to solve basic problems of the computer system, followed by Jefferson A. Mallillin and Mr. Serafin M. Palogan for printer troubleshooting. Thereafter, Mr. Sammuel A. Aquino gave a very timely lecture on responsible research using AI especially in providing assistance in writing new articles with the use of ChatGPT.

Mr. Kurt Sander P. Daliuag shared his skills in Photoshop and Canva, showing how to create clean and creative designs. This was followed by a session on video editing using Filmora by Mr. Paul Andro G. Dimangan, Mr. Allan Christopher A. Dayrit, and Mr. Daliuag. They taught the basics of editing videos and creating content that can be used for information campaigns and presentations.
On the second day, the participants applied what they learned during a hands-on workshop. Forty-five employees from different divisions were grouped into five teams. Each group created their own video using Filmora, showing teamwork, creativity, and the new skills they gained during the training.
The activity ended with a short message from Assistant General Manager for Finance, Human Resource, and Administration Ms. Jocelyn B. De Jesus, who congratulated everyone for their active participation and teamwork. Assistant General Manager for Technical and Operations Engr. Janice R. Cardenas also joined the event and showed her support.
This training is part of MTWD’s goal to continually assist its employees adapt to new tools and technologies. This peer learning activity became a meaningful and successful experience for all involved.
