The Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District capacitates the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) members and the program implementers in promoting a gender responsive programs and projects of the District through the conduct of a three-day Seminar Workshop on Gender Analysis and Tools held on December 1-3, 2022 at MTWD Building Function Hall.
The main objective of this seminar workshop is to provide learning avenue to give a wide understanding in the use of GAD tools in determining the level of mainstreaming effort of the District, and to identify the gaps and areas that needs to improve to further increase the attribution of the programs and projects that contributed on Gender and Development.
Gender and Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework or the GMEF and the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines or HGDG are the GAD tools being presented during the seminar and were used during the hands-on workshop. GMEF is one of the tools used by the GFPS members to measure the extent of the gender mainstreaming efforts of the District. This will also assist the members in locating and responding to gender gaps and needs towards women empowerment and gender equality.
Resource person Ms. Maria Rachel G. Miguel, a member of the National GAD Resource Pool, accredited by the Philippine Commission on Women, shared her expertise on GAD Analysis and in the use of GAD tools – HGDG and GMEF. Ms. Miguel displayed a thorough knowledge of the topics discussed and she was able to provide wide insights pertaining to the conceptual elements, frameworks and processes of the Gender Analysis Concepts and Processes.
The Seminar Workshop was participated by 43 employees of the District comprising the Board of Directors, General Manager, members of the Gender and Development Focal Point System and the Technical Working Group.
This seminar workshop helped the participants broaden their perspectives in implementing a gender responsive programs and projects, to have a gender sensitive environment and to strengthen the gender mainstreaming, women empowerment and gender quality in the District.
