In celebration of the 2025 World Water Day, the Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) successfully conducted the 10th year of its flagship water conservation awareness program, Batang Water Wais, on March 13 and 14, 2025. The event engaged young minds from four elementary schools across Tuguegarao City, Piat, and Solana, reinforcing the importance of responsible water usage through fun and educational activities.

The activity was conducted in Linao Elementary School and Pengue-Ruyu Elementary School in Tuguegarao City, Piat Central School in Piat, and Solana North Central School in Solana with 60 Grade 4 pupils in each school.
On March 13, 2025, the first leg of the event was held at Piat Central School and Solana North Central School, where students eagerly took part in various interactive activities. The activity continued on March 14, 2025 at Linao Elementary School and Pengue-Ruyu Elementary School in Tuguegarao City, drawing the same level of excitement and engagement from the young participants.
The Batang Water Wais program featured a short film viewing about water and its importance, and a series of fun-filled educational games, including Mind Games, Picture Match, Quiz Bee, and other interactive activities designed to instill water conservation habits in children. Through these games, students learned simple yet effective ways to save water in their daily lives, empowering them to become young advocates of sustainable water use.

The following pupils were hailed Batang Water Wais 2025 in their respective schools; John Limuel G. Durwin of Pengue-Ruyu Elementary School, Heart Jandrei S. Taguinod of Linao Elementary School, Cale Justine B. Garcia of Piat Central School, and Shaun Michael A. Callueng of Solana North Central School. These exceptional students were chosen from the pool of winners in each game and emerged as the top scorers in the Quiz Bee competition.
Adding excitement to the event, MTWD Mascot Angkal Danum and Jollibee Mascot joined the program’s conclusion, delighting the children with a fun dance performance. The kids joyfully danced along with the mascots, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.
The event concluded with the awarding of certificates and tokens to the schools, winners, and school supplies for select indigent pupils, recognizing their active involvement and commitment to water conservation. With its continued success, MTWD remains steadfast in its mission to promote water sustainability, inspiring more young minds to take part in protecting this essential resource for generations to come.
