As a traditional practice of paying attention to the importance of water, the Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District joins the world in celebrating the World Water Day 2017 with the theme “Water and Wastewater” as directed by the Local Water Utilities Administration by virtue of Memorandum Circular No. 005-17 where it aims to highlight the symbiosis between water and wastewater in the quest for sustainable development.
“World Water Day is held annually on the 22nd day of March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of the freshwater resources.”
In order to make the celebration more meaningful, a committee was formed to plan and organize different activities lined-up for the month of March. The activities done were, Batang Water Wais, Photo Contest and Poster Making Contest which was participated by Elementary Schools, representatives from different government agencies withing Region II and Junior High Schools.
The District was grateful for the willingness and overwhelming support of its employees and the participants in taking part in spreading the advocacies of all the water districts in the country.
Short program and a Motorcade
Aimed to generate more attention and to disseminate the present projects of the District, on March 22, 2017, MTWD, in the celebration of World Water Day, conducted a Motorcade.
Due to heavy rain, a short program preceded the motorcade. It started at 8:00 in the morning and was participated by the 10 government agencies namely Commission on Audit (COA), Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Health (DOH), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Department of Agriculture (DA), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Civil Service Commission (CSC.)
Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan, CESE, the District’s General Manager, delivered his message by welcoming and acknowledging the participants.
After the short program, motorcade followed. The participating agencies brought with them their official vehicles to show support to the activity of the District.
Overall, it was indeed a fruitful and successful celebration of the 2017 World Water Day.
