In showcase of commitment to environmental sustainability, the Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) organized its final tree planting event of 2023 on December 9, near the Mangga Spring in Sisim, Peñablanca. The event, led by 15 enthusiastic MTWD employees and joined by one dedicated ZONTA member, served as a fitting culmination to a year of impactful ecological initiatives.
The chosen venue near the Manga Spring holds crucial significance as it serves as a vital source for the water supply managed by the water district. The springs originating from Mangga, Vunnung, and Dabba in Peñablanca have been the original sources of water for the MTWD since its inception.
A total of 1000 seedlings were planted during this culminating event. The tree planting initiative builds upon previous efforts, together with its partner agencies and organizations, resulting in a cumulative total of 15,434 trees planted as of December 9, 2023. This exceeds the annual target of 15,000 trees set by the District for this year and it reflects the long-term commitment of the MTWD to protect and preserve the natural environment for future generations.
The MTWD remains at the forefront of environmental advocacy, demonstrating that collective efforts, no matter how small, can lead to significant positive impacts. As the community looks forward to a greener and more sustainable future, the MTWD continues to set an example for responsible water management and environmental conservation.
