In a bid to revolutionize water management and address the growing concern of Non-Revenue Water (NRW), the Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) recently concluded a three-day seminar on “Active Leakage Control Practices & Methods and Instruments for Water Loss Reduction.” The event, held at the MTWD AVR 3rd Floor, Main Building in San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City, featured an esteemed speaker, Engr. Ramon Dela Torre.
The first day of the seminar focused on laying the groundwork for the NRW reduction program. Engr. Dela Torre delved into the basics of water production, NRW fundamentals, and presented compelling data illustrating the trends in NRW for Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District from 2013 to 2022. The proposed NRW reduction program took center stage, with a particular emphasis on pressure and leakage control.
The second day explored long-term plans for water loss management, stressing the significance of water audits in distribution networks. The session included a detailed discussion of the proposed NRW control program, featuring technical approaches such as meter testing, correct meter sizing, meter replacement, and improved meter reading.
The final day of the seminar incorporated a recapitulation of the preceding days, followed by a field visit to Cataggaman 1 pumping station. Participants had the opportunity to witness a live demonstration of a Leak Detector provided by guest speaker TZ-E Innovations Corporation. The corporation specializes in water and electrical solutions technology in the Philippines and showcased successful projects implemented in other water districts across the country. The attendees, including representatives from various divisions within MTWD, gained valuable insights into cutting-edge technologies that can aid in the NRW reduction program. The interactive session facilitated an exchange of ideas and strategies to enhance water management practices.
The training was attended by Assistant General Manager Engr. Janice Cardenas, Acting Department Manager for Technical Services Engr. Danjoe Valdez, and Acting Division Managers Engr. Rencis Buscas, Engr. Rene Monteclaro, and Rhoss May Angelette Serquina. The seminar concluded with a ceremony where General Manager Engr. Miller Tanguilan, together with Division Manager of Human Resource Ma. Teresita P. Cruz and Assistant General Manager Engr. Cardenas, awarded certificates and tokens of appreciation to Engr. Ramon Dela Torre for his insightful contributions. Certificates of participation were also distributed to the engaged representatives from Corplan Team, Customer Services Division, Commercial Division, Production Division, Engineering Division, Construction Division, and Accounting Division. As Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District continues its commitment to sustainable water management, this seminar marks a pivotal moment in the district’s journey towards reducing NRW and embracing innovative solutions for a water-secure future.
