The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Tuguegarao City Fire Station conducted fire and earthquake drill, today, April 25, 2025 at the Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) ground, Main Avenue, San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City.

The fire and earthquake drill aimed to equip the MTWD employees with knowledge on how to handle and manage situations in case of fire or earthquake incidents. These drills will also help them prepare and respond properly in order to avoid further damage to property and prevent loss of lives.

Assistant General Manager Engr. Janice R. Cardenas in her opening message emphasized the need to acquire knowledge and skills in preventing fire accidents notwithstanding the regular drills conducted annually.
Personnel from the BFP having expertise on the topics discussed and shared their insights on the basic principles and characteristics of fire and fire hazards.
The drill ensued at the MTWD grounds after series of lectures. A basin containing a mixture of fuel and water was used in the simulation and SFO1 Nang, FO2 Daquioag and FO1 Tabago demonstrated how fire is suppressed using fire extinguisher. MTWD employees had a hands on experience on fire suppression as they actively participated during the drill.

A post-drill assessment was also conducted where employees shared their learning experience. SFO1 Dulce Q. Castro also emphasized the need to immediately call the BFP Hotlines in case of fire incidents as this is the only way for them to quickly respond.

The MTWD management, officers and employees under the leadership of General Manager Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan, CESE, are grateful for the learning experience and knowledge that are gained during the said activity. With the extreme hot weather condition Cagayan is experiencing nowadays, fire accidents are prevalent, thus, it is through proper knowledge and skill that fire occurrences may be prevented or suppressed.
