The personnel of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Tuguegarao City Fire Station facilitated the fire and earthquake drill which was participated by MTWD employees at MTWD Building, San Gabriel, yesterday, April 23, 2024.
The conduct of this activity aims to prepare and empower employees with the necessary knowledge and skills on how to act or respond appropriately when fire or earthquake occurs. It may also reduce the possible loss of lives and/or accidents.

FO1 Sherwin Tabago started the lecture on Fire Safety Measures, the corresponding modern equipment used to suppress fire and the significant fire concepts. SFO2 Julieta Capili continued the discussion as she also lectured on causes of fire and how it is dealt with in case of occurrence. FO1 Carla Mae Sibayan further emphasized on what to do in case of fire accidents and how it may be suppressed with the use of fire extinguisher. She further demonstrated the proper use of the fire extinguisher and how it should be taken cared of in order to maintain its efficiency. SFO1 Peejay Nang also discussed the importance of floor plan which is useful in equipping every employee on proper use of fire exits and the installation of emergency alarm in case of occurrence of fire and earthquake. SFO1 Nang further commended MTWD for having installed audible ring alarms within the MTWD Building.
After series of lectures, the fire drill ensued at the MTWD grounds. The BFP personnel demonstrated how fire is suppressed. Materials used where LPG tank which is considered as one of the causes of residential fire and fire extinguisher and wet cloth which are used to supress it. MTWD employees had a hands on experience on fire suppression as they actively participated during the drill.
The MTWD management, officers and employees under the leadership of General Manager Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan, CESE, are grateful for the learning experience and knowledge that are gained during the said activity. With the hot weather Cagayan is experiencing nowadays, fire accidents are prevalent, thus, it is through proper knowledge and skill that fire occurrences may be prevented or suppressed.
