The Metropolitan Tuguegararao Water District continually innovates to uphold its commitment by providing safe, adequate and affordable water supply for its customers twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. The proliferation of business establishments and educational institutions coupled with the increasing demand for water supply entails the need for additional water sources. With the initiative of the General Manager Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan, CESE through the support of the Board of Directors, the District explores the use of underground water sources through drilling and developing of test wells. In addition, the District also commences the construction of additional pumping stations and venturing into surface water treatment.
The infrastructure projects being inaugurated this year were the Cataggaman Pumping Station 2, Larion Well No.2 and Pumping Station and the Atulayan Pumping Station. The Cataggaman Pumping Station 2 which is located at Cataggaman Pardo Tuguegarao City was inaugurated last January 12, 2018 with a well capacity of 55 liters per second. This pumping station is now serving the barangays of Cataggaman Nuevo, Viejo and Pardo, Ugac Sur and barangays Centro 1 t0 Centro 10. The Larion Bajo Well and Pumping Station was inaugurated last August 1, 2018. The pumping station is now serving the barangays of Centro 1 to 10, Dadda, Gosi Norte, Gosi Sur, Larion Alto, Larion Bajo, Libag Norte, Libag Sur and Tagga. The Atulayan Pumping Station was designed to improve and augment water supply in the barangays of Tanza, Leonarda, Caggay, Pengue-Ruyu, Carig Sur and Carig Norte. The pump design of this project is 50 liters per second at 61.73 meters Total Dynamic Head (TDH) and 60 HP submersible motor with pump setting of sixty (60) meters.
MTWD also ventures into surface water treatment. The District purchased a lot located at Caggay, Tuguegarao City which will be the site for the proposed treatment plant. This venture endeavors to solve the problem of numerous drilling in different location sites and shall guarantee good quality of water which will be served to the customers. This would also preserve the underground water sources and has higher capacity output than underground water. Most importantly, this surface water plant shall cater the greater number of customers as it can produce more than one hundred (100) million liters per day.
With all the accomplishments and latest innovations of the District, it is worth noting that the organization still gives its best to continuously improve the quality of service it is rendering to the public not only to be at par with internationally recognized standards but to be able to satisfy the public’s need for safe, adequate and affordable water.
