“Water Districts Enhancing Integrated Water Resource Management for Sustainable Water Supply” is an advocacy of promoting integrated water resource management in view of the threat of global climate change. It aims to help boost the holding as well as recharging capacities of the country’s vital forest and watershed areas as an initial, concrete step in their commitment to promote integrated resources management for sustainable water supply.
In connection with this advocacy, The Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) conducted its annual tree planting activity in three batches: March 18, March 25, and April 1, 2017 at Lattu, San Roque, Peñablanca, Cagayan, respectively which was actively partaken by the MTWD officers and employees headed by GM Miller C. Tanguilan.
This tree planting activity is envisioned to help address the problem on climate change and promote the government’s massive forest rehabilitation program. Consequently, 300 Duhat seedlings were jointly planted by the 47 participants from the first batch. The 58 participants from the second batch also exhibited their environmental concern by planting 300 Narra seedlings. Being the most in number, the 65 participants from the last batch were able to complete the activity by planting 400 seedlings. Overall, the Mangga site was implanted with 1,000 seedlings that will soon benefit the present and future generation.
Planting trees is one of the easiest and most sustainable ways to positively affect the environment with too little cost but yields too much return. By this simple act, the MTWD has demonstrated that working together to ensure the protection, preservation, sustainable development and proper use and conservation of our natural water sources is not impossible.
