MTWD Team BuildingThey say that an employee’s motivation and excitement is at its pinnacle when first hired. It is common however, that after settling into a routine of the daily work, excitement and motivation begins to diminish. In order to sustain the employee’s enthusiasm at work, research shows that team cohesion can improve morale, motivation and loyalty.

The Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District aims to encourage camaraderie and improve working atmosphere among the employees. To fulfill this objective, the Administrative Division and the Office of the General Manager, spearheaded the Team Building held at Costa Carina, Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

Meaningful Team Work and Development In order to facilitate continuous operations during the event, the employees were divided in two (2) batches. 81 employees participated during the first batch on April 28-29 while the 77 other employees attended during the second batch on May 2-3, 2014.

This year, five (5) teams of each batch competed against each other, determined to win a set of prizes. To jump start, the group played Pass the Cabbage where identified employees were compelled to do a challenge. After which, the Amazing Race which is a series of tough challenges were played. To foster amity among the employees, the night was designed for socialization where the talent of the employees were showcased.

Indeed, as research showed, team building activities are a way to provide high-impact learning, increase team skills and communications and improve morale and productivity. The employees benefit through experiencing a sense of accomplishment in working as a group to complete a challenging task and learning ways to improve communication skills.
