In order to continually raise awareness to youths on the importance of water conservation and sustainability, the District conducted an annual activity called ‘Batang Water Wais’ on March 13-14, 2025 to selected public elementary schools within its area of coverage. This initiative which started in 2015 features activities such as picture matching, answering of trivia questions, quiz bee and other related educational activities which were enjoyed by the pupils.

The constant commitment to environmental preservation is being undertaken thru continuous Tree Growing Activities within the MTWD maintained watershed which has been running for several years now. This year, this program commenced on March 15, 2025 with the planting of 1,712 seedlings of narra, duhat, fringon, tindalo and ipil which was made possible thru the partnership and cooperation of the Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao and Tuguegarao City Moog ng Agila Eagle’s Club.

As practiced in the previous years, MTWD also sought support from the regional government offices in the hanging the advocacy banner in front of their office building.
The Digital Art Illustration Contest was also conducted on March 21, 2025 which was participated by seventeen (17) public and private high schools within the District’s service area. This activity aims to engage students to share their thoughts through artistry and creativity based on this year’s local theme. This initiative through creative expression started since 2016 featuring poster making contest and photo contest.
 
The MTWD employees together with the official Mascot ‘Angkal Danum’ also participated in the traditional motorcade around the main roads of Tuguegarao City on March 22, 2025.
 
A culmination of the month-long activities in celebration of the 2025 World Water Day ensued thereafter. To give recognition to the youths, awarding ceremonies of the pronounced Batang Water Wais from the participating schools and the awarding of the winners of the Digital Art Illustration Contest also took place where the winners are given cash prizes, corporate tokens and certificates.
 
General Manager Engr. Miller C. Tanguan, CESE and Board of Director Engr. Fausta L. Tanguilan emphasized in their message the importance of these activities in creating an impact while strengthening environmental preservation and water conservation and that Bayanihan sa Katubigan is a step to combat climate crisis in order to build a more sustainable future for all.
 

The MTWD management and staff are grateful for the participation and support extended by the participating schools, government agencies and communities as we all endeavor to create an impact on the importance of sustainability of water resources and as we advocate to alleviate the effects of global warming, climate change and water security issues.
