TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, March 18 (MTWD)–The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA)- Regional Development Council (RDC) conducted a field monitoring visit to the ongoing construction of surface water treatment plant (SWTP) project of the Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD), today, March 18, 2025 at Caggay, Tuguegarao City.

The field monitoring visit commenced with a project briefing led by MTWD Technical Team Engr. Janice R. Cardenas, Engr. Danjoe Valdez and Engr. Jonjon Escalo and proceeded with site inspection while discussing its salient features in line with the project structural design.
Said visit of the RDC Regional Project Monitoring Team aims to ensure that the project implementation is not hampered and to monitor not only the physical project but also the system being employed. SWTP Overall Project Manager Engr. Janice R. Cardenas mentioned that the project is expected to be completed in June 2025 as to its construction phase and the process proving will be undertaken within one year thereafter. She added that the operation of the said project will improve the quality of water supply in the entire Tuguegarao and will create a big impact in the economic viability of the District.
The field monitoring visit concluded with an exit conference through presentation of the project description and structural design including its rendered view. Private Sector Representative Atty. Robin James Gunnacao emphasized the importance of financial review and processes for the continuous project implementation. Chief Economic Development Specialist Djonimar Lo C. Dumlao further ensured that the information obtained relative to the project construction will be discussed during the committee meeting as the SWTP is one of the country’s infrastructure flagship projects and in order to extend necessary support to complete the project according to the target date of the District.
The field monitoring visit was also joined by the Presidential Management Staff Mr. Saddam Baron A. Dela Cruz, representatives from the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and CG Integra.
