he Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) through the leadership of General Manager Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan, CESE, after thorough deliberation by the Awards Committee, has been selected by the award giving body composing the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and MAYNILAD, as the sole recipient Local Water District in Luzon of the 2025 Huwarang Lingkod Tubig Award today, March 21, 2025 at Novotel Hotel, Cubao, Quezon City.

The Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) has nominated MTWD for the World Water Day Philippines Awards 2025 in the Huwarang Lingkod Tubig Award for its initiatives on climate and disaster resilience, water supply security and sustainability, and partnerships and collaboration. This served as the premier platform for honouring individuals, institutions and initiatives that made strides in achieving water-environment sustainability in the country.
It is worthy to note that the Awards has recognized 162 champions since 2015 and as of this writing, MTWD made it in the roster of honorees. Other General Manager-awardees are GM Elmer Luzon of San Francisco Water District for Mindanao and GM Julius Ledesma of Silay City Water District for Visayas.
The Awards aim to promote the mandates of partner organizations and strengthen partnerships among various water and environment stakeholders.
The MTWD management extends its grateful appreciation to the award giving body and LWUA for recognizing the continuing efforts of the District in making quality water services accessible and in improving the quality of life of the public it serves.
