The Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District and the rest of the world celebrate the 2024 World Water Day with a theme “Water for Peace”.
In order to generate more impact and in order to promote awareness on issues of water sanitation, conservation and preservation, a motorcade within Tuguegarao City was conducted today, March 22, 2024.

Said activity was attended by the MTWD Board of Directors, Dir. Fausta L. Tanguilan, Dir. Albert G. Babaran and Dir. Teresita R. Rios, the MTWD workforce while showcasing the mobile facilities that are being used in every day operations. Ms. Victoria B. Pattaguan, Chief, Environmental Education and Information Unit of Environmental Management Bureau also attended the said event.
The Cagayan National High School (CNHS) band also participated the motorcade with their lively rhythms which made it more festive.
Following the motorcade, a short program ensued at the 4th floor of MTWD Bldg. General Manager Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan, CESE in his message further emphasized the importance of water preservation and conservation. He also added that these must be strictly observed in line with the forecast of the PAGASA on the ill effects of the El Niño phenomenon which is expected to persist.
To entertain the employees and visitors, the Juan and Juana dancers also performed a mash up dance.
The 2024 Batang Water Wais from participating schools namely, Allyson Sahbrina A. Zalun of Buntun Elementary School, Precious Mae D. Tasi of Capatan Integrated School, Faith C. Villanueva of Bangag Elementary School and Jaymark M. Bacud of Sta. Barbara-Maguilling Elementary School) were also awarded. The winners of the recently conducted Photo Contest were also awarded with a cash prize, medal and a certificate of recognition. Mr. Daniel Kyle S. Pustasa of Our Lady of Piat High School received a cash prize amounting to P5,000, Mr. Ethan L. Gruezo of John Wesley College received a cash prize of P3,500 and Ms. Jhannelle C. Apostol also received a cash prize amounting to P2,000, all emerged as 1st placer, 2nd placer and 3rd placer, respectively.
Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Dir. Albert G. Babaran in his closing message also mentioned the importance of water and the great role of the employees in the frontlines play in the day to day activities of the District.
The theme “Water for Peace” focuses on the critical role water plays in the stability and prosperity of the world. It also raises awareness of a major water related issue and inspires action to tackle the water and sanitation crisis
