Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) joins the nation in celebrating Women’s Month with the theme “We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society. On 08 March 2024, it conducted a simple programme to recognize the imperative role of women in the society in general and in MTWD in particular.
Did we know? PD 198 or the Provincial Water Utilities Act of 1973 recognizes the importance of women in decision making and hence, provided for the appointment of one representative of the Board of Directors of Water District to be coming from the women Sector. In MTWD, recognition of women in decision making could also be ascertained by the higher percentage of women in the management. Of the 20 key officials of MTWD, 11 of them are women. These include distinguished Board Members Ms. Teresita R. Rios, the Vice Chairperson representing business sector, Engr. Fausta L. Tanguilan representing the Civic Sector, and Ms. Lorna L. Dimalanta representing Women’s Sector. Women key officials in the management include Engr. Janice R. Cardenas is the Assistant General Manager; Jocelyn B. De Jesus, Department Manager for Finance and Administration; and Division Managers Maria Imelda B. Bacud, Ma. Teresita P. Cruz, Mary Antoinette B. Fermin, Kristal Frances L. Battung, Rhoss May Angelette T. Serquina, and Honeylaine F. Flores. MTWD also boasts a total of 77 female employees or around more or less 25% of the total employees whose dedication and skills contribute to the overall success of the water district. Their contributions play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations and strategic development of the water district. MTWD’s commitment to gender equality sets an excellent example for organizations aspiring to create diverse and dynamic work environments.
