The Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD) hosted a benchmarking session for the Municipal Waterworks System of Enrile (MWSE) at the MTWD main office on February 5, 2024. A total of 16 key representatives from the Enrile LGU and MWSE actively participated in the insightful session graced by no other than the MTWD General Manager, Engr. Miller C. Tanguilan.

The benchmarking activity tackled two key areas: Commercial which includes meter reading, billing and collection, and Production which includes water generation, distribution operation and maintenance. The Division Manager of Commercial Division, Ms. Maria Imelda B. Bancud, shared MTWD’s extensive experience in meter reading, billing and collection. She discussed among others how MTWD utilizes handheld devices for meter reading together with data download and transfer to a central database for billing and collection purposes.

Engr. Rene Monteclaro, Acting Division Manager of Production, discussed MTWD’s production facilities’ functions, operations, maintenance, and water quality standards adherence. He emphasized the importance of complying with the standards set by the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water to ensure the safety and potability of the distributed water.

Ms. Mary Antoinette B. Fermin, Division Manager of the Internal Control and Systems Development Division, also joined the open forum and discussed the water service application procedure and requirements.

In the afternoon, Mr. Elviro Darauay of the Commercial Division, demonstrated the actual conduct of meter calibration using both the test bench and on-site calibration. Engr. Janice B. Cardenas, the Assistant General Manager and Engr. Monteclaro also accompanied the group to the Atulayan Pumping Station to showcase its discharge set-up, tanks and booster pump.
